13/10/08 New songs for download!

As excitement mounts over Real PD's forthcoming new album 'The Republic is Still on Fire', realpd.co.uk is pleased to offer you exclusive first downloads of two new songs. 'Summertown' is a pop-rockin' reinterpretation of our 1988 anthem, and the epic six-and-a-half minute skanker 'Police Dog' is Real PD's first intrepid step into, er, Dubstep. Well that it what it was supposed to be, anyway. You'll find them over in the songs and lyrics section. Enjoy! And let us know what you think via the Myspace or Facebook pages.

20/08/08 Vintage Videos

Dear viewers - there was once a time when teenage boys wore bow ties and sat in their bedrooms all day prodding nervously at tiny Casio keyboards and strumming acoustic guitars on alarmingly 'open' tunings. Head over to our new improved Sounds & Visions page for some freshly uploaded vintage Real PD videos from the 80's and 90's. Be warned: the past is a strange place to visit.

3 High Heel Race

4 I Bet Real PD Look Crazy on the Dancefloor

20/11/07 New single details

Real PD release a new 3-track single, 'Filthy Liquorice' on December 3rd. We're about a year and a half away from a new album so it is safe to say that this is a one-off. As well as the title track, which was inspired by the floods in Sheffield earlier this year, the CD also features 'Muriel', a song which Mark and Adrian began writing during the 'Life on the Edge' sessions in 1987 and which has only now been completed. Which makes it 20 years in the making, non-mathematicians. 'I Bet Real PD Look Good on the Dancefloor' completes the package, and is available on the homepage right now as a little teaser. Enjoy.

P.S. The next Real PD single 'Seclusion' (as reported 7/02/07) will now follow a few weeks after the album. This is for profound and unfathomable reasons of artistic integrity alone, and is in no way because we haven't finished the video and one of the B-sides yet.

15/03/07

Steve's new do!

No, we didn't believe it either. But it's true. For Comic Relief our Steve has only gone and 'done a Britney'... Life will never be the same as it was. Again.

Hoorah - it's 'Loosely Related Statistics in a Weeny Font' time!

Richard now officially has more hair than the rest of the males in the band put together.

Steve (formerly of the luxuriant mane) has written two very otherworldly and alluring 'transitoires' for the new Real PD album, out next month. One of them is entitled 'The Banshee Wailed and Nothing Happened.'

17/02/07

New pics of the band are in the new photo gallery. Marvel at how the ravages of time leave the Real PD unscathed. Music is our Botox. Baby.

Love is a Lizard

Alistair writes:

The lyrics to the new track 'Love is a Lizard' are now posted in the Lyrics section of this site. Since posting the track just over a week ago, I have decided (as I often do!) that I wasn't pleased with the mix and have subsequently mixed it again. As of today, the new mix is the one you'll hear if you click on the link from the homepage.

So apologies to all those who downloaded the first mix... you have a rarity on your hands should you choose to keep it! Anyone who did download the first mix of 'Love is a Lizard' and can tell me how the lyric differs from the new version will win a complementary copy of 'For Those About to Pop' when the album is released in April. Email your answers to theband@realpd.co.uk And good luck.

07/02/07

Work on Real PD's forthcoming thirteenth studio album continues apace. The new collection will be entitled 'For Those About to Pop' and will have an April 2007 release. The CD features new versions of the songs Dress Code and Catsuit, along with around 14 other gems. (We're still chewing over the track listing. Yeah, we hear a single... but do we got a B side?) Anyway, there just might be a very thrilling and most exclusive track from the album lurking somewhere on the site. Search carefully and thoroughly. Leave no stone unturned. And no reptile unclicked.

A single, 'Seclusion' - which has, like, a video and everything - will precede 'For Those About to Pop'. Excitingly, it features lead vocals by Mark for a change. And, as the good Sheryl once noted, a change can only do us good. More details to come.

18/12/06 First exciting installments of Sandwich in Motion booklet published. See news story from 01.12.06 below for the full story.

01.12.06 Gasp! Long-lost 'Sandwich in Motion' booklet found

The limited-edition-of-one art booklet to accompany (bonkers) 1986 album 'Sandwich in Motion', which has long been missing and revered as a legend (as only a truly lost object can be) has, er, turned up. Turns out it was under a pile of gubbins at Adrian's parents' house all along. Rather thrillingly, the booklet, which comprises lyrics, photos, drawings and collage-type-affairs turns out to be a winning mix of the truly inspired and the utterly crap. Pages are being carefully teased onto a flatbed scanner as we 'speak', and will be reproduced on this very site in the very near future...

04.06 New CD single! New download-only single

'Dress Code' is the first sneak listen to what the PD boys and girl have been up to in 2006. And it might just surprise you...

The song is accompanied on the 2-track single by 'I © Popjustice', the band's hymn to the seminal music website (take a look at www.popjustice.com) and our lament/ rant/ call to arms over the state of pop. This track features both Sean and Richard on guitar and boasts a melody line strangely familiar to anyone who followed the 80s adventures of a fabulously wonky girl group...

In addition to the CD single there's a third, and storming, track available (for the moment) as a download only. You can find 'Principles' in the Sounds and Visions area of the site. Enjoy. It's claptastic...

04.06 The band have started recording fab new material. This album is shaping up to be quite a diverse set, featuring songs with writing credits from Richard, Sean, Claire and Steve as well as the usual songscribbling suspects.  Expect an album, oooh sometime over the course of the next year, and a single... imminently!

01.06 Real PD are currently writing material for a new album, their thirteenth studio project. The vibe is collaborative and chaotic.

12.05 The second single from 'Burn Your Flag With Pride' is a Japan-only release of 'Rubbermaid'. The tracklisting for the single which features exclusive B-Sides and a new D&E remix is:

1 Rubbermaid

2 The Ceiling

3 Trees Change Colour

4 Dignity & Excellence

(Miki Mokimoto RadioNoNo Edit)

10.05 The tracklist for the new CD single of 'Dignity & Excellence' is as follows:

1 Dignity & Excellence

2 I Pressurize Your Hair (Real PD vs M*lo DJ Whitelabel Mash-Up)

3 I Put it There

4 Waking Your Mind Up (Electro Single Version)
